Extraction Overview
Extraction is the process of retrieving data from source systems and preparing it for process analysis. The result is an Event Log — a structured dataset that chronologically records business events.
Access via the Extraction icon in the top-right navigation ribbon. The Extraction framework consists of three stages:
- Data Connection – Connect FUTUROOT to your source system.
- Data Extraction – Extract and configure source data.
- Data Transformation – Transform extracted data into an Event Log.
Click Create and complete the following fields:
Stage 1: Data Connection
Click Create and provide: Extraction Name, Extraction Type (Data Connection or File Upload), Data Connection.
Click Test Connection to verify, then Save.
⚠️ Repeated attempts with incorrect credentials may lock the source-system user account. Contact your administrator if this occurs.
Salesforce Data Connection
Click Create and fill in the connection fields: Source System, Connection Name, Host/IP, System Number, SID, Client, Parallel Connections, Username, Password.
ℹ️ Contact your Salesforce Administrator if you don’t have the Security Token.
SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Connector
Select SAP S/4 HANA Cloud from the Source System dropdown. Configure: Connection Name, Host URL, Username, Password, Port Number (default 443), Batch Size (default 500). After creating the connection, use it in Data Extraction and click Add Table to define tables with Relative API Paths.
SAP JAR Connector
Provides faster and more efficient extraction. Select SAP JAR as the Source System, download the JAR package, ensure Java 17 is installed, extract the ZIP, run the Start file, then configure and save the connection.
Stage 2: Data Extraction
Click Create and provide: Extraction Name, Extraction Type (Data Connection or File Upload), Data Connection.
Data Connection Extraction
After selecting Data Connection and clicking Next, the Extractor Configuration screen opens with:
- Column Configuration – Select columns to include or exclude.
- Join Configuration – Define relationships between tables with a simplified SQL editor.
- Time Filter – Restrict extracted records by date range.
- Additional Filter – Custom filtering logic.
- Extraction Preview – Validate before execution (Results and Logs tabs).
File Upload Extraction
Upload XLSX or CSV files. Click Upload & Preview, configure data types for each column, and submit.
Delta Extraction
Retrieves only data that has changed since the last extraction. Benefits: faster execution, reduced data processing, lower system load. Select Delta Load instead of Full Load during execution.
Extraction Scheduler
Access via Data Extraction → Scheduler → Create.
| Settings | Options |
|---|---|
| Trigger Type | Full Load or Delta Load |
| Frequency | Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Custom |
| Overlapping Behavior | Queue (wait), Skip (ignore), Start (stop previous and begin new) |
